FAQ’s.

  • You can make a booking online by clicking the “Book Now” button in the top right hand corner of the screen. One of our friendly team members will then give you a call to complete the booking process. • Going to therapy for the first time can be quite daunting and you may feel overwhelmed about opening up to a stranger. This is perfectly normal, even for those who don’t consider themselves private or reserved individuals. In therapy your safety is of great importance and our psychologists are trained to make you feel at ease, and build worthwhile therapeutic relationships.

Your first couple of sessions will focus on your psychologist getting to know you as you go on this journey together.

After you have booked your session and completed the required forms, you can begin to think about the following:

    • What brings you here, taking this step towards a Better U?

    • Are there any goals you want to achieve?

    • Has therapy benefited you before? How so?

Start small and let your therapist guide you. If it helps, write things down to bring with you to your sessions!

  • You do not need a referral to see a Psychologist. You only need one if you wish to claim a rebate from Medicare.

  • Better U Health Services is a private clinic and does not offer bulk billing.

  • Fees are dependent on which practitioner you see. The fees vary depending on their level of qualification and the timing of the appointment. You may be able to claim a rebate from Medicare to help cover some of the costs involved. Please contact the clinic for more details or to view our Payment Policy.

  • To be eligible to claim a rebate from Medicare, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral letter from your General Practitioner or Psychiatrist. Medicare provides a rebate of $96.65 for psychology sessions, for a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year for individual therapy. To make the process easier on you, Better U can lodge the claim on your behalf and the rebate amount will be deposited into your Medicare nominated account within a few business days. You are also able to lodge the claim yourself, if you wish to do so.

  • Our other third-party funded services include: The National Disability Insurance Scheme, Work Cover and Employee Assistance Programs. Please contact our clinic for more information.

  • Some private health funds offer rebates under their “Extras” cover. Every health fund is different and their rules about rebates are subject to change over time. We advise you to contact your private health fund and find out what your entitlements are, and how they expect you to make a claim.

  • We provide a comprehensive range of assessments and services. These assessments can provide insights into diagnoses and disorders  as well as learning styles, cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and recommendations for educational accommodations or interventions.

  • A Telehealth session refers to as session provided via video chat that can be done in the comfort of your own home, or place of work depending on your needs and schedule. A face-to-face session refers to a session provided in person, in the clinic. Both modes of therapy provide the same level of support, connection and engagement with your psychologist. You can switch between face-to-face and Telehealth sessions at anytime. Both modes of therapy can be covered by rebates depending on your eligibility. All you need is a device with a camera such as a laptop or smartphone and a stable internet connection to have your session via Telehealth. For more information give us a call!

  • That’s okay! Contact our admin team on 0407 939 536. While we cannot promise you the exact date and time you want, out team will do their best to work with you to find a time to accomodate your needs. Please keep in mind that we offer Telehealth sessions that have more flexibility in timing.

  • New patients are required to book sessions on fortnightly basis where possible. This is to ensure that you get the best out of your therapy, continuity of care, build a relationship with your psychologist and to avoid wait times between appointments. At Better U, we want the very best for you and to see results and symptom reduction. Your Psychologist will discuss with you in more detail changes to the frequency of your sessions based off their professional opinion. You can make changes to any of your scheduled appointment times provided it is in-line with our cancellation policy to avoid any fees.

  • We understand that you may need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. We require 48 hours notice to make any changes to your appointment time. If you fail to attend your appointment or fail to give the required notice, you will attract a cancellation fee. Our Cancellation Policy can be provided upon request. Please contact our clinic.
